What is Co-Codamol?What is Co-Codamol?
co codamol 8mg (pronounced ko-co-da-mol) is a combination of 2 different painkillers – paracetamol and codeine. It is used to treat a range of aches and pains including headaches, muscular pain, migraine and toothache. It can also be used if other painkillers such as aspirin, paracetamol or ibuprofen don’t work. It comes as tablets and capsules and is available in 3 strengths. The lowest strength can be bought without a prescription from a pharmacy but higher strengths must only be taken on prescription from your doctor. It is important that you leave a gap of 4 to 6 hours between taking each dose. Too much co-codamol can cause liver damage.
The most common side effects from co-codamol are constipation and feeling sick (nausea) or being sleepy. Children may be more sensitive to the side effects of this medication and should only be given it under a doctor’s supervision. If you experience any of these side effects speak to your pharmacist or doctor immediately.
